Olympic Team Trials for Track
and Field to receive live
national television coverage.
The
2004 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in Sacramento will feature
14 hours of live television coverage by NBC and USA Network.
Included is nine hours of weeknight cable coverage by USA Network,
which is available in 86 million U.S. television households. NBC
will offer five hours of live network coverage on the four weekend
days - July 10-11 and July 17-18.
The Olympic Track Trials feature eight days of competition from
July 9-18 at Hornet Stadium. There are two off days - Tuesday, July
13, and Wednesday, July 14. The competition determines the makeup
of the U.S. Olympic track and field team for the 2004 Olympic Games
in Athens, Greece.
The 2000 Olympic Trials in Sacramento attracted more than 187,000
fans, shattering previous attendance records for the event. Sacramento
is the first city in a quarter-century to host successive Trials.
If the proposed merger between NBC and Universal Television Networks
doesn’t close, weeknight coverage of the 2004 U.S. Olympic
Track & Field Trials will be shown on the Bravo Cable Network.
Specific broadcast times will be announced later.
