Variety of ticket options
available for U.S. Olympic Trials
Four day tickets go on sale April 1; daily tickets
available starting May 15
The U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials is considered one of
the greatest meets in the world, and Sacramento is the first city
to host successive U.S. Trials in a quarter-century. Don’t
be left in the starting blocks – outside the stadium gates.
The 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials drew more than 187,000 fans, shattering
the previous Trials attendance record by more than 30,000. That
unparalleled support was one of the main reasons Sacramento was
awarded the 2004 event.
It’s all the more reason to join the crowd in getting a jump
on tickets this time around. Eight-day ticket packages have been
available for more than a year, and 12,000 have been sold. Beginning
April 1, fans will be able to purchase four-day packages for the
prices of $80, $100 and $140.
The 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials will be held July 9-18 at Hornet Stadium
on the Sacramento State campus. There is a two-day competition break
in the middle of the event on July 13-14, meaning fans can soon
choose either the first half of the meet (July 9-12) or the second
half (July 15-18).
Finals are held on all eight days of competition. Those interested
in purchasing four-day ticket packages for July 9-12 will see a
tremendous variety of events, including finals in the men’s
and women’s 100 meters; men’s pole vault; men’s
and women’s 400 hurdles; men’s shot put; women’s
5,000 meters; and 10,000 meters.
The second half of the meet (July 15-18) includes finals in the
men’s steeplechase; men’s and women’s 200 meters;
women’s pole vault; men’s 110-meter hurdles and women’s
100 hurdles; and men’s and women’s 1,500 meters.
Daily tickets go on sale May 15 at prices ranging from $15 to $35.
Ticket forms are available at www.sacsports.com or by calling (916)
